Quigs – 'Aurora'
Review by Brandon Watts & Staff

Hailing from the South San Francisco Bay’s underground music scene, Quigs interweaves melancholy harmonies with eclectic songwriting. The songs presented in the 90s rock style are crafted to confound and mystify. Growing up in a small town in Northern-California, Quigs was adopted and raised by a couple of Irish immigrants. As a result, he wasn't exposed to a lot of American culture or music growing up. Fortunately, his sympathetic American uncle who saw interest in his eyes introduced Quigs to the music of Nirvana and Metallica, and the rest is history. A great way to get to know Quigs talent is to check out his song, "Aurora."
Quigs enraptures listeners through fast-paced, quirky electronic production in his latest track “Aurora”. As the song kicks off, layers of synths fill the soundscape driving the song with a catchy motif playing in different octaves and different timbres adding depth and texture to the arrangement. This is creative music that is not boxed in.

Quigs, offers an emotional and captivating performance delivered with ethereal vocals layered with electronic, harmonic background vocals that give an other-worldy timbre to the vocals singing,
“I know you know love too, and everything is blinding you, we're all the same. You push through the thorns too, and everything is hurting you, we're all to blame, So waste away your soul, and face the days so cold, and praise the days so old, shine bright and brighter”
“Aurora” represents the fragile nature of love in the current state of our world. As emotion intensifies and the arrangement progresses, it breaks away from the stability of the motif driven arrangement as the drums break into a heavily syncopated beat and the synths begin to bend and wash over each other representing the paranoia, stress and instability we feel. This kind of music sound painting is truly engaging as listeners experience the song's intensity and emotion through musical nuance.
There is no doubt that “Aurora” will keep you enraptured from start to finish with stellar, dynamic production that will keep you on your toes and at the edge of your listening seat. With such an emotive performance, “Aurora” does a great job delivering an experience that makes you feel and think.
