Peter Unger – “You Are Not Alone”

Review by Brandon Watts & Staff

Pastor Peter B. Unger is a singer-songwriter who writes Inspirational/Spiritual Folk, Celtic and Country music.  Peter was raised in New England and is a graduate of Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont.   He received his Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate Degree from Drew University in Madison, NJ.  Pastor Peter, as he known to parishioners, has served Churches in upstate NY and Eastern PA. He was also a chaplain at the veteran’s hospital in Syracuse, NY. A finalist in the USA International Song Writing Competition, Peter feel that the greatest reward Pastor Unger has received from his music is the assurance by many of the comfort, hope, and mediated sense of Christ’s presence it brought them.

Peter's song "You Are Not Alone" is sure to bring comfort to many during these times.

With his song “You Are Not Alone” Peter Unger sends a reassuring message through folk-like storytelling that is sure to captivate and uplift listeners. From a school boy who is an outsider to a single mother who is struggling and an older man who misses loved ones, each story has a healing and comforting message. From these individual slices of life, Peter moves the lyrics to the world's pain with a universal message that God is present everywhere.

The track showcases Peter’s signature sound featuring a beautiful medley of guitars that interweave plucky phrasing across the stereo image while electric accents chime in with lead melodies all held together with steady bass lines that drive the rhythmic pulse.

Peter’s vocals have a pure and soothing timbre as he uses the verses to tell stories of people facing hardships. Even when the people in the stories feel as if they have nobody there for them, Peter transitions to the chorus singing “I’m already there,/ you’re not alone,” giving people the hope that even in their loneliest moments, God will always be there for them.

“You Are Not Alone” is sure to stick with you through its relatable story and inspirational message. During a time when many people feel isolated and alone, Peter Unger reminds us that we are never alone as he delivers a message of love and hope graciously through song.
