Nune aka Mr. Propane - Interview

The W.A M. Awards celebrate the year’s most outstanding independent artists from around the world in multiple genres and categories. "Best Song" and "Best Album" nominations were based on Artistry, Musicianship, Originality, Professionalism, Diversity, and Excellence. W.A.M. stands for "We Are the Music Makers.' Nune Aka Mr. Propane's song "Black Man" was the 2020 W.A.M. Award Winner for Best Song in the Rap / Hip Hop category.

What got you into music?

Music has always been a huge cultural influence. From the old school legends like Frankie Beverly & Maze, Marvin Gaye, and Anita Baker to Hip-hop artist like Ghetto Boys, Tupac, and Nas, music has resonated deep within me and it just felt natural to want to create.

What is your favorite part about being an artist? Is it songwriting, performing, recording, something else?) Tell us why.

I really enjoy the songwriting process and hearing the completed verses or songs after conceptualization. The recording process is cool because you can be so creative with your sound and delivery to make your songs stand out.

Can you tell us what being in the recording studio is like for you?

It's that chill time for me. I can shut the world off and just be comfortable in my own skin, just me and my thoughts. It's where you can just be your best self.

As a songwriter or musician, are there any obstacles you have had to overcome or obstacles that you are facing right now in your career?

I feel as though there's always obstacles, whether it's finding your lane, your audience, and planning out your career in a way that's smart and effective. My number one goal is getting my music into film and I've been blessed to have found connections that are helping make that happen.

Who do you admire most in the music scene today and why?

I admire K-Rino more than any other artist because his music comes from a place of wisdom that resonates deep. When you are Gifted with divine knowledge, it is incredible to experience and understand how much being in-tune with God spiritually, can affect his message through those of us who allow HIM too.

To date, what do you think your best song is? Can you describe the song for us?

My best song in my opinion is my single "If I Try" which is all about chasing your dream regardless of doubters and understanding you, yourself, above all the power you need. Believe in yourself and allow God to lead your path and of course don't give up on yourself.

Are you working on any new material right now or what's in the works for the upcoming year?

My next project is in the works although I don't have a name for it yet. I am about five songs in, and I'll be working on another EP with my cousin Big Dust also. That project will release before 2020.
