Nune aka Mr. Propane ft. SooSmoothReview - 'If I Try'

Review by Anthony Nguyen & Staff

BWH Music Group and World National Indie Radio (WNIR) are hosting 'Songs For Change' radio special during the month of November. Music can influence, and even change, people, movements, and society. Sharing songs about peace and social justice, will ultimately remind the world of the importance of peace, fairness, love and unity. Nune Aka Mr. Propane's song "If I Try" is one of the amazing songs that will be featured on this special radio program.

With an insane performance from both artists and a fiery beat, “If I Try” by Mr. Propane is an absolute gem. The bass kick is extremely tight and punchy. While seemingly less in volume compared to other songs in the genre, it gives the rest of the song ample room to breath, a refreshing change of pace in a genre where the low end can sometimes suffocate a song. The lead synth is arpeggiating in an entrancing pattern and really glues the beat together. There are other nice synths floating away in the background that keeps the song in a fascinating ethereal, dreamy state. The sung vocals are absolutely stellar. It’s clear that the autotune is being used as an effect, and not a crutch to support a faulty singer. They are crystal clear and emote a large amount of emotion while maintaining technical excellence. Much in the same light the rapping in the verses are full of this songs characteristic charisma.

The production involved is what really sets this song apart from its peers. Drops in the beat, delay throws in opportune places and clever vocal effects are just some of the tools Mr. Propane uses to make sure there is never a dull moment in the whole song. In the verses there is a riveting stereo effect (perhaps a phaser?) that differentiates the verse from the clean chorus. All the sections flow into each other naturally and the songs pace is brisk from beginning to end. The two artists featured play remarkably well off each other and that gives the song an interesting tug and pull.

Nune is dedicated to helping all of the struggling fellow artists out there find their voice, and to never give up in the face of adversity. “How far could I go if I just Try? Living out my dreams so I can fly” is just one of the lyrics that really capture this feeling of living life to its fullest potential. There is evidence of superior lyric writing displayed throughout the whole production, and it takes the song to new heights. With top notch arranging and a heartfelt performance from Mr. Propane and SooSmooth, “If I Try” is a standout achievement in songwriting.
