Nicki Kris - 'Rise'
Review By Daniel Hoyt & Staff

"Rise" by Nicki Kris is featured on BWH Music Group’s new release, ‘On Peace Street, Vol. One.’ The compilation album is a collection of 19 original songs in various genres by today's best independent artists and songwriters. Sharing songs about peace and social justice, the artist's songs will ultimately remind you of the importance of peace, fairness, love and unity. Filled with meaningful lyrics and exceptional music, this playlist is an example of how music can influence, and even change, people, movements, and society.
“Rise” is a roller coaster of dynamics and sounds that will amaze any listener. The song is an electronic pop tune at heart; however, it has elements of different styles and takes cues from different artists. The song begins with just a piano and snap intro, and that continues into the verses. The song builds up until a full blast at the first chorus. After that, the song goes back its' roots, and picks up until the full blast at the next chorus. The exceptional arrangement has a bridge section featuring solo piano and clapping backing Kris.
It has a bit of a Black-Eyed Peas, “Where is the Love?” vibe to it mixed with “Titanium” by David Guetta ft. Sia. The power in the chorus contributes greatly to the message that it contains. Nicki Kris' performance is powerful, polished and pristine. Her vocals are outstanding.
The message of this tune is to “rise up” against hate. This was originally a female empowerment song, written after the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings; however, the tune has made its way to a broader audience and has become an empowerment song for everyone to stand up against the hate in our world.
Nicki Kris knows that one voice is not enough, but everyone should be standing up and saying “I’m Gonna Make You Hear Me!”, “Together We Rise… Together We Stand!”, and “It Starts with Me, and it Starts Now.” She knows that many voices cannot be silenced and that millions will follow in her cause.
Nicki Kris is a gifted songwriter who has a real message for people to believe in. "Rise" has a lot to offer to the world as it speaks for those who are tired of hate and want to “rise up” and fight for the greater good.
