What got you into music?
The first time I listened to Nevermind, really stuck with me. I was 7 years old, and Kurt Cobain became my childhood hero. In middle school and high school I was pretty much a loner and would listen to rock and hip hop albums in my room, those albums definitely got me through a lot.
What is your favorite part about being an artist? Is it songwriting, performing, recording, something else?) Tell us why.
My goal is to inspire people, like how my favorite artists inspired me. I wanna write songs that save people and give them a voice in battling mental illness. The mission statement for me is to be a songwriter that helps millions of people worldwide.
Can you tell us what being in the recording studio is like for you?
Being in the recording studio is hella dope, I become super focused and the music just flows outta me, I can spend hours on end, sometimes working into the next morning. I also love the sense of family- Ryan and Samson always bring something awesome to the equation- and our newer members Nicky and Cory are really creative and smart.
As a songwriter or musician, are there any obstacles you have had to overcome or obstacles that you are facing right now in your career?
Yeah, I wasn't someone that was born with extreme talent or a conventional pitch perfect voice, I really just had to grind every day and every night to get to a place where I was confident in my music. I've been writing songs since I was seven years old, now I'm 19 and I can say that the new music we are about to drop is a creation that I am very proud of.
Who do you admire most in the music scene today and why?
I really love the community of artists supporting each other and giving love. The underground Soundcloud community is super supportive and I really dig that. Also with the power of the internet and streaming services, a kid like me can write a song in his bedroom, record it somewhere, release it online and then millions of people can hear it.
To date, what do you think your best song is? Can you describe the song for us?
The next one. There are songs of mine that I am very proud of and songs that I'm not as proud of, but I feel like there's room for improvement in all facets of life, so no matter where my music takes me I'm always gonna tell myself that there's more left to do and a lot left to say.
Are you working on any new material right now or what’s in the works for the upcoming year?
We have about 11 songs in the pipeline which we recorded with producer Danny Saber, and we are going to release throughout 2020. We are always writing and working on music.
