Kay Soul - 'This Life'
Review by Daniel Deprè & Staff

“This Life” is a soulful and rhythmic song. Right from the start the beat is very catchy and is guaranteed to get you moving along with the rhythm. Thanks to some powerful vocals and creative arranging this song is so full of life and hope. The songs message is infectious, and it really provides a sense of uplifting power that most songs nowadays don’t provide. Above all, this track is undeniably cool. It has such confidence, and its production is top notch.
Lyrically, Kay Soul understands that so many people wake up each day just to face unrelenting anxieties and struggles. Her lyrics offer such inspiration for all of us, and she wraps these words of hope in a wonderful poetic bow. “In and out the hustle and bustle of the times. Each day and night praying for peace of mind, do you see all the possibilities to have life and have it more abundantly?” Kay Soul really wants you to fully love yourself and to have faith in yourself. “Dream killas wanna tell you what you can and cannot do but you can, and you will, so get to it.”
The arrangement is certainly abundant and loving life. The song kicks off with some tastefully busy and light percussion to act as the backbone of the beat. Once the electronic drums kick in the song thrusts into motion. Kay Soul’s vocals are so warm and slick, and they are further enhanced by the really colorful background vocals. All of the vocals really create an amazing sense of unity, which helps make this songs message all the more empowering. Filling out the arrangement is piano, a synth pad, and synth strings, which are impeccably layered to give this song a cinematic boost.
“This Life” is all about empowerment and positivity and it’s such a pleasure to listen to over and over.
