Justin Gambino - 'Fighting On My Behalf'
Review by Daniel Deprè

“Fighting On My Behalf” is an emotional song that is both epic and inspiring. The intro begins with such cinematic flare, it belongs in a movie. The sounds are gentle, and they carry a tragic weight to them. This is truly a song about overcoming a troubling time in one’s life and it’s the perfect anthem to get you back on your feet. Overall this is a rock song, but there is some influence from EDM music, and it really makes this a unique track. You’ll feel liberated from all of life’s darkness after listening to Justin Gambino’s powerful song.
Lyrically, Justin Gambino is singing about fighting a battle that he never expected to have to fight. When life throws us a huge challenge, often we don’t know where to turn. Justin found he was able to turn to God and felt comfort in that God was fighting on his behalf. His lyrics are phrased in a way that are short and sweet, but also a lot of fun to sing. “In this season I will find you, when I see with all I have, in this battle I will trust you, because I know, you’re fighting on my behalf”. Many lines are repeated, creating a catchy repetition while also emphasizing the deep struggle that he is enduring. “And I can’t catch my breath, no can’t catch my breath, no”.
The arrangement has a very distinctive flavor mixed with the traditional rock band setup. The synthetic sounds are very cinematic which gives the song a strong emotional vibe and it’s really quite moving. Mixed in nicely with the synthetic sounds is a strumming acoustic guitar which helps keep this song grounded. Electric Guitars also fill in the soundscape with bright riffs and a rockin’ melodic solo in the bridge.
Justin Gambino’s vocals are so confident and full sounding. A few times he lets out a really deep growly tone in his performance and it’s like a burst of energy that helps make this track genuinely expressive. The addition of background vocals singing “woah, oh” in the chorus further enhance the song’s epic nature and makes this the kind of song that would be so much fun to experience live. “Fighting On My Behalf” is an epic anthem that rocks hard and soars high.
