Hunter and the Wick'd

BWH Music Group’s 'Keepin' It Country, Vol. One,' by Various Artists, contains an eclectic mix of 17 songs by today's best independent country artists and songwriters. Off the compilation, Hunter and the Wick'd's single, "I Don't Wanna Talk Right Now" will give you something to talk about - great music.

A light guitar groove opens “I Don’t Wanna Talk Right Now” by Hunter and the Wick’d. Intricate and melodic bass work adds to the song’s folk-rock texture. Lead vocalist, Miri Hunter, opens with the catchy chorus.

“I don't want to talk right now, I just want to lay up in your arms I don't want to talk right now, Words can only do us harm Let's not talk right now, Let me lay up on your arms.”

Miri’s vocals are earthy and subdued. As she sings, you feel yourself inhaling the magic of her sound, then exhaling with musical fulfillment. Her voice is incredibly natural, warm and inviting.

Musically, the song’s arrangement is in a basic folk-rock band format. Miri Hunter is on lead vocals and acoustic guitar; Thom Merrick plays guitars and bass: Rick Chaffee is on electric guitar and Erik Mouness plays the drums. From top to bottom, the band captures the essence of the song with simple and sparse perfection. Lead guitar solos, expertly played in an upper register, provide a nice contrast to Miri’s beautiful alto voice and the superb bass lines. The guitar solos truly sing with soul.

“I Don’t Wanna Talk Right Now” is a song about healing in the moment and letting the light in. "There’s nothing another word can say. A gentle touch that's the only way." It’s about finding a quiet place, shutting out the world’s issues and personal pain from the past, and discovering who is in front of you. It's about living in the present moment. There is a chemistry between Miri Hunter and Thom Merrick, the two founding members of Hunter and the Wick’d, that warms the soul and their music lights the fire.

In "I Don't Wanna Talk Right Now," there's plenty of exceptional musicianship to talk about from the natural vocals to the tasteful instrumental arrangement.
