Harrison Country - 'Ain't the Beer Cold!'
Review by Patrick Joseph & Staff

“Ain't the Beer Cold!” is a rollicking country anthem with depth and motion. Phenomenal instrumental performances underscore a confident vocal in this well written song. The massive chorus packs a punch, and the whole song rolls along with an insistent groove. Interesting chord progressions, dialed-in back up vocals, and inspired guitar fills all contribute to a larger-than-life sound. Listeners will fall in love with the dynamic swells in this feel-good tune.
Lyrically, “Ain't the Beer Cold!” pays simultaneous homage to a legendary baseball announcer and the “good times.”
“Ain’t the beer cold ain’t the ladies shimmering hot you know you wanna rock when your team gets on a roll.”
The way Harrison sings it, you’d be a fool to be miserable in a world like this. Like any great country song, this one says a lot with a little:
“baby backs smoking over glowing coals boom box shaking to some country soul…ain’t the beer cold.” Focus on the positive. Or as the great Chuck Thompson used to say “Ain't the Beer Cold!”
The arrangement of “Ain't the Beer Cold!” is complex and deliberate. A sparse verse builds perfectly into the “payoff” chorus. Catchy vocal melodies keep the song engaging while a wall of back-up vocals fills the space. A burning guitar solo and a masterful rhythm section set the stage for a controlled yet expressive lead vocal. “Ain't the Beer Cold!” is intricate and well-crafted…an instant classic. About Harrison Country
Harrison Country (Don, Karen & Amy Harrison, Jennie Harrison Young and Lexi White) is an Americana music group from Annapolis, MD. Founder Don Harrison has dubbed their music “21st Century Folk Music.” It doesn’t sound like the folk revival music of the ‘60’s – it’s folk music in a deeper sense. The people who created John Henry and Froggy Went a Courtin’ and Scarborough Fair weren’t trying to create “folk music.” There were telling stories about their lives and the world in which they lived, using language that ordinary people could understand, with the instruments and music traditions available to them at the time. Harrison Country does the same. Their debut album Climate Change was a “thoroughly thoughtful and interesting album full of the stuff that great Americana is made of.” (Please Pass the Indie.) Ain’t the Beer Cold! is the first release from their upcoming album Keeper of the Past.
