Etym-Ology - 'Guilty'

Review Written by Victoria Scott & Staff

Music can influence, and even change, people, movements, and society. Sharing songs about peace and social justice, ultimately reminds the world of the importance of peace, fairness, love and unity. Etym-Ology's song "Guilty"" is one of the amazing songs that will be featured on BWH Music Group and World National Indie Radio (WNIR) 'Songs For Change' radio special during the month of November. “Guilty” from the album The Awakening by Etym-Ology calls for a Revolution, a change in the manipulation and poor treatment of the free people. With an 80s synth string melody introducing the trap hip-hop beat, Etym-Ology raps vivaciously. The rap style has an Eminem and Busta Rhymes feel that listeners will love. The beat drops into a deep sub-bass and the trap backbeat is contagious. The production on “Guilty” is clean and will have you grooving with its tight trap beat and booming bass.

“Guilty” is rightfully accusing those that have taken advantage of people even killing their own people. Using money to start wars, we are losing our minds because of the poison they feed us through media. We live in a society that falls short and we feel like we have no control. Etym-Olgy intensely raps the chorus:

They shift guilty and build empires,

Push filth on shelves and through wireless wires,

Disperse poison through the skies and food supplies,

Livin’ lifeless comfortably numb dumb, normalized.”

Etym-Ology artistry is radical and impactful with profound messages and a booming hip-hop beat. “Guilty” is catchy, upbeat, funky, and innovative. Etym-Ology's song is reflective and hits on the tragic cycle that society is trapped in. Some are guilty of using others and treating others as their property. We must stand up for justice and demand what we deserve. Etym-Ology is a revolutionary and empowering artist.
