Donny Pomerlee - 'It Gets Better From Here'
Review by Patrick Joseph

“It Gets Better From Here” is a thought provoking and emotional song which will leave you feeling inspired and filled with resilience. An expressive, almost eerie synth melody opens the track by clearing the air and setting a tone for a powerful musical statement to come. The backing track on this song is brilliant, creating intensity and tension underneath Pomerlee’s dynamically engaging vocals. The use of space in this song is lovely, encouraging reflection while highlighting lyrical content. Lyrically, “It Gets Better From Here” acknowledges life’s difficult moments while sending an welcoming message of hope and positivity. “It gets better from here, Don’t you worry” the way that these lyrics are woven together between back-up and lead vocals will give you chills. “Its been a long journey for me, I don’t know where I would be, If it wasn’t for god saving me.” Pomerlee’s soulful vocals are expertly delivered, communicating deeply help beliefs with contagious conviction. Arrangement and execution are both done admirably on this song. A harp melody bitter sweetly floats over the music. Electric keyboard chords provide a layer of warmth and humanity to the harmony. Understated, syncopated drum patters give the music space while creating a sense of forward momentum. Back-up vocals are layered and harmonized beautifully underneath a show stopping lead vocal from Pomerlee. A hip-hop verse puts the icing on the cake with intensity and wisdom.
“It Gets Better From Here” is a fantastic song, a truly beautiful expression of an uplifting sentiment. For more information, please visit Donny Pomerlee's website.
