Cool Ass was created by Marc Marut with a sound that's reminiscent of 90's alternative. Combining a hard hitting, toe tapping, energetic rock style with other influences, Cool Ass music gets people moving as much as the lyrics get them laughing. Not only is Marc a musician/songwriter, he is also an accomplished actor. He has starred in feature films such as "The Paperboy (1994)", as well as many TV shows such as "Goosebumps" and "Road To Avonlea." Marc does all the composing, recording, and audio engineering himself.
A spunky rock tune expresses raw emotion towards the devasting Corona Virus, “Fuck You COVID-19” by Cool Ass. Marc Marut, the singer-songwriter and producer to “Fuck You COVID-19,” starts with a pop-rock rhythm and 90's punk guitar riffs. The spunky beat and distorted guitar riffs are intense and perfectly capture the frustrations this pandemic is causing us. The toms and hi-hat are tight on the one creating epic vibration in the chorus. The funky stereo effect on the vocals hit nicely during the chorus as the horn and rhythm section power through the bridge. Marc’s a versatile musician who creates dynamic arrangements and comical lyrical flows.
The honesty and crude lyrics of "Fuck You COVID-19," though they are hilarious, express our universal frustration regarding the 2020 pandemic. Marc didn't plan to write this upbeat rock tune until Corona hit us, and he was moved to express the anxiety of everyday living: going out grocery shopping, being stuck at home alone or with family (both can drive you crazy). The fact that businesses are closing, and the world has to face the truth on so many issues is enough for anyone to employ the musical middle finger. It is 2020, and it is kicking us in the butt. Cool Ass has a more colorful approach with his words when expressing his emotions towards COVID-19. As the he sings:
“This really sucks. Least now I know for sure, who gives a fuck. I miss my life. This feels so cruel, But most of all I miss the kid being in school. So, I do whatever. I'm able wash my hands and keep 'em clean, doin' my best not to touch my face in between. And you know I'm super grateful. And it feels just like a bad dream. My heart goes out to everybody in this quarantine.”
Cool Ass, with his pop, punk rock style, and comedic lyrics, is radical and unapologetic with his progressive performance. His artistry is extraordinary and unconventional, and his raunchy yet intense and effortless intense sound is electrifying. Cool Ass is skilled as an artist and producer, and his level of musicality and creativity is remarkable.
