Almost An Artist - 'Voodoo'

BWH Music Group’s Keepin' It Country, Vol. One, by Various Artists, contains an eclectic mix of 17 songs by today's best independent Country artists and songwriters. With great storytelling and heart-felt performances at the core of each song, the album spans traditional and contemporary Country music. Off the compilation, Almost An Artist's single, "Voodoo," is sure to keep you spellbound.

A blues riff intro rips from the guitar with confidence as "Voodoo" starts rolling. A short vocal intro, in a deep-drawl speaking-voice tone (reminiscent of Johnny Cash) starts the story, "Well alright, here's a little tune about a Voodo woman I met the other day...messed me up real bad. " There's plenty of country swagger to spare.

Switching vocal gears (as easily as he can switch instruments and genres) Almost An Artist sings the first first with a pure tone that sounds like the guy next door, clear and easy on the ears, part country and part pop. Almost An Artist is foremost a songwriter, composer, and producer, but his voice is equal in talent. He is a true Renaissance artist who can write in any genre and pull it off authentically.

Playing all the instruments, and singing the lead vocals and harmonies himself, Almost An Artist has written a song about a spellbinding woman. With a remarkable rhythm section, syncopated drums, and thick bass on each downbeat, "Voodoo" is a foot-tapping sensation that rocks. The energy will knock your socks off and get you onto the dance floor. It's upbeat, contagious vibe is fun. Sections with bold rolling drums give-way to a clap-along at the end.

The lyrics are a country-blues cross-over with clever lines like Hey, she broke my heart, knew it from the start, she threw me down the gutter and she bled me out, I wept and drowned, feeling like a clown, my legs broke down, screaming out, no sound, oh...” Nice guitar solo work flies off his fingers with an improvisational sound. Mid-way, a country-blues jam breaks out and the guitar chops fly.

"Voodoo" is a song about fascination, infatuation, and intoxication. Almost An Artist works his music magic well, casting a spell of country, rock and blues.

'Keepin' It Country, Vol. One' is available on all major digital outlets. For more information about the album and artists, visit BWH Music Group.
