Erick Blu

Erick Blue is a young, aspiring pop/rock sensation. His musical journey began when he was twelve years old and his father gave him a guitar for his birthday. Erick was always inspired by true entertainers like Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars. His passion and drive for what he does has led him to performances in front of 20,000 people, sharing the stage with acts like Hoobastank. His newest single, ''Took The Words" featuring UK's pop princess 'Robyn Regan' & VMA Asia Award winning rapper 'Borkung Hrangkhawl,' is a great way to check out what his sound is all about. He will be going on his album tour in the UK and releasing brand new singles this year so make sure to keep up!

What got you into music?

Music has always been an important part of my life, as a child music was what separated ordinary from the extraordinary. The more I immersed in it, the more it felt right, the beat, guitar, piano & the vocals, it was all just perfect.
Someone once told me that the two most important days in your life are "when you are born" and "when you find out WHY you were born". At the age of 14, I realized the answer to ‘why’ I was born, it was when I ascertained my love for music. Music means everything to me. It’s my life and the one thing I want to do till the very end.

What is your favorite part about being an artist or band? Songwriting, performing, recording, etc.? Tell us why.

I love everything about it. Writing, recording & spending nights working on a record is the backbone of everything, its what makes you an artist in the first place, but my favourite has to be performing, the rush you feel before and when you're heading towards the stage is inexplicable, the heart starts to beat faster, you feel the adrenaline rush throughout your body, nothing can give you that exhilarating feeling, well maybe skydiving.

Can you tell us what being in the recording studio is like for you?

Well, my last recording session was just 2 weeks ago in Brescia, Italy at my producers' studio, we start with some basic warm up sessions and then go through the record, sometimes it could take days to finish a song but at times just hours, its all about the creative feel and where we are on the instrumentals at the time, that being said, recording studios are my second home, spending time there working with the producers, sessionist musicians, studio engineers & vocalists is very pleasing to me.

As an artist or musician, are there any obstacles you have had to overcome or obstacles that you are facing right now in your career?

Well, obstacles might be an understatement, as an artist you have to be everything and be everywhere at the same time. Its about reaching millions of people while not having millions of dollars or strategic departments of major labels to promote you. International success then is very improbable but not impossible. It will require all that you've got, your talent, skills, passion, consistency, creativity, personality, patience & persistence.
With all the years of experience I've got I'd say I almost have all the obstacles covered but the only problem I may be facing right now would be the ''Reach'', though the advertising team of facebook did inform me that Erick Blu's this week's post reach was 101,008 but here I'm talking about millions, something what Shawn Mendes would be having at the moment say 10,000,000. But if I may quote a saying in physics, "give it infinite time and even the particles themselves will form a non-impossible arrangement", so I will definitely overcome this obstacle in time.

Who do you admire most in the music scene today and why?

That would be Harry Styles, Its not the fact that he is having an incredible success after leaving the band but the fact how he is actually heading, I admire the elegant & classy feels in his new records and live shows. Also, I like the american pop band echosmith, I love their song 'cool kids', not just because they liked my Instagram post yesterday lol

If you could be granted one wish, right now, as an artist, what would you ask for?

For all of the human population to know ''Erick Blu''

What is on the horizon in the next year for you?

Well, after my last year's independent success, growing social media, nomination at the HMMA & MTV EMA, I have a lot going on in 2018 including good reviews from A&R like Erick Mclellan at Warner Bros Records, who said and I quote ''Took The Words is a great pop song. Liked the rap part of the track best! Congrats on the streams, likes and views that shows you are on the right track and doing it on your own! Keep up the hard work''.

We also have a brand new music video releasing on May 4th for Took The Words (Remix), followed by my album tour in the UK (Sponsored by Vevo) opening at the Great Escape Music Festival & The Liverpool Soundcity. In June, two of my new originals will release including solo pop/rock single ''Tonight In The Mirror'' and ''Only One Emotion'' featuring Poland producer Mario Ayuda and Grammy artist 'Natalie Nicole'. I'll also be attending the IMEA Awards on June 16th, at the historic paramount art centre as a nominee for ''Pop Artist Of The Year'', and may even get to perform at the ''Governors Ball Music Festival'' in New York City. Later in the year, my song ''Reach The Stars'' from 2017 EP Electric will feature on the ''Wanna Party'' pop series which comes out at the opening day of IES in Hollywood. Will also be joining HS Nation tour called the 'US biggest Teen Event' in late 2018. All this is what we know today, things can always change for better,

To date, what do you think your best song is? Can you describe the song for us and what makes it great?

Every new song I make is in my opinion better than the previous, as each time you learn and experience something new. But I think till this date my favourite would be ''Something I Want'' which was released last year on July 4th. As it was about not knowing who you are but still having a strong passion to show the world what you have and what you see. I received a HMMA nomination & spins at the Radio 1. ''Something I Want'' is now at 150,000hits on VEVO. Not to get ahead of myself but I believe my upcoming collaboration called ''Only One Emotion'' ft. Mario Ayuda and Natalie Nicole would become my best song yet as it has such an attractive melody with a zealous and passionate feel. It will be out in June 2018, Stay Tuned!
